Top Tips For a Stress Free Move

Whether you’re moving across the street or across the country, it can be a hassle without the proper planning. With so many items to pack, boxes to move, and the difficult selection of a removals company to deal with, moving can be an overwhelming task. However, with the right plan, you can make your move stress free and simple.

Plan in Advance

As long as you don’t need to move immediately, it’s best to plan your move a couple of months in advance. This will give you the time you need to research what removals company would be best, and it will give you time to properly pack and label all of the items you will be moving to your new home. Without enough time, packing would be stressful, and you might break an item or mislabel a box because you are rushing. Taking time to move is key; it takes away stress and potential problems.

Get Rid of Clutter

A great way to reduce stress when you’re moving is to decide what items or furniture you don’t need anymore. Donate old books you no longer read, or donate clothing that no longer fits. Getting rid of unnecessary items will make your new house less cluttered and more spacious, while helping to make the moving process much simpler. House removals can be stressful, but with fewer items, the stress will be alleviated.

Make an Inventory and Label Properly

To keep your move organised and as stress-free as possible, you should try creating an inventory of all of your possessions. Print out a list of all the items you are packing, or write them down in a notepad. Write each item down so you can be sure you have everything when all items are moved to your new house.

When you pack your items in a box, label that box in a specific manner. Colour-code the boxes, and label which room each box is going to be unpacked in. This makes unpacking easier in your new house.

If you are packing electrical devices or other items, you need to put the parts that go with each device together in the same box. For instance, your kettle and the electric element it sits on should be packed together (along with mugs and teabags, of course!). With items and their parts in the same box, packing will be easier and more organised, and unpacking will be a breeze!

Pack in Stages

Instead of making packing a huge, difficult task that you tackle all at once, take the stress away by packing in stage over a month. This is why planning ahead is so important. If you pack just a few items each day or each week, it will be much easier and less stressful. You can take your time and concentrate on packing properly.

Moving doesn’t have to be a hassle. By following these tips, you can have a stress-free moving experience and enjoy filling your new home with your beloved belongings.
